Everyone Gets to Retire! (except the Debt) by Pat Conrad MD

A friend sent me this link, purporting good news for the seniors. It touts a study that says the Early Bird Special crowd will need 8% less than previously forecasted to cover their medical expenses thanks "to President Obama's year-old health care overhaul, which will reduce many seniors' out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs."

Whoopee. While the Big O is continuing the atrocious George W. Bush "Free Drugs for Old Peoples' Votes" Program, it seems to have escaped notice that someone is paying for this stuff. And even if the Bell Toners and their Boomer progeny live an extra thirty years, that is just longer to subsidize them and shift that famous "last six months of life" cost further down the road.

With Medicare fueling our national debt's rocket ride to the horizon, the prospect of inflation, decreased availability of services, and likely currency collapse may diminish the joy of Uncle Sam's latest senior citizen discount, whatever our good wishes.
